Western Kids Health Speech Pathology Service Fees & Rebates

Rebates

It may be possible to claim a rebate for some of the cost of our services through either:

  • private health insurance (contact your insurer and ask if your extras cover includes speech pathology) or
  • the Chronic Complex Diseases Program (CCDP), formerly the Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Program (ask your General Practitioner (GP) if you qualify for this program)

Specialist Initial Assessment or Consultation

Assessments for children under 4 years of age range from $308 to $360 depending on the experience of the clinician.

The cost includes:

  • 60 minutes face to face time for the assessment appointment
  • Materials used during the assessment
  • Indirect time spent preparing for the assessment, transcribing, analysing and scoring the assessment, which may include time with other specialists or senior clinicians if necessary
  • Feedback about the assessment results
  • PLEASE NOTE: to allow flexibility in service selection, reports are an optional extra that can be requested. They cost between $200-$350 depending on the type of report requested

Assessments for children over 4 years of age range from $308 to $1000 depending on the complexity of the referral and the experience of the clinician.

The cost includes:

  • Face-to-face time for the assessment- initially a 60minute assessment appointment. If the referral is for a comprehensive language and/or literacy assessment, your clinician will discuss the need for further assessment time with you at the initial assessment (this can be up to an additional 2-3 hours)
  • Materials used during the assessment
  • Indirect time spent preparing for the assessment, transcribing, analysing and scoring the assessment, which may include time with other specialists or senior clinicians if necessary
  • Feedback about the assessment results
  • PLEASE NOTE: to allow flexibility in service selection, reports are an optional extra that can be requested. They cost between $200-$350 depending on the type of report requested.

Specialist Intervention or Therapy Sessions

Following the initial assessment or consultation session/s a recommended treatment plan will be discussed with you. This will include a recommendation for the frequency of therapy sessions, ranging from twice weekly, weekly, fortnightly, to monthly, depending on the most up to date evidence, to ensure maximum progress.

Standard 60minute therapy sessions range from $205 to $280 depending on the experience of the clinician.

This cost includes:

  • 50minutes of face-to-face therapy time and 10minutes of indirect preparation and follow up time, which may include time with other specialists or senior clinicians if necessary
  • PLEASE NOTE: You can discuss the options of shorter therapy sessions, group sessions and telehealth therapy sessions with your clinician.

Cancellations

Please notify at your earliest convenience if you need to cancel an appointment to allow another child to attend the appointment. Cancellations within 24hours of an appointment will be charged. Telehealth appointments will be offered as alternatives to face-to-face appointments. In the case of severe illness or hospitalisation you are able to email our Practice Manager for a refund. An attendance rate of 80% is expected throughout a term. If your more than 80% of appointments are cancelled throughout the term, then a cancellation fee will be charged.
