Gross Motor Delays in Babies
Our physiotherapists combine their assessment of observation, reflexes, muscle strength, range of movements, balance and postural reactions with age appropriate standardised tools to assess your baby’s gross motor development.
From this assessment a physiotherapy program will be developed that both meets the physical needs of your child and the social context of your family, to optimise motor development and skills. Our physiotherapists work closely with paediatricians and other specialists to optimise outcomes.
Physiotherapy through movement facilitation and incidental and play-based exercises aims to:
- assist your child to achieve milestones such as sitting, crawling, standing and walking
- improve posture, motor control, strength, balance and co-ordination
- liaise with carer’s to help them assist / facilitate your child’s gross motor development
